Conditional sentences (Kalimat Pengandaian)

Kali ini saya akan berbagi pengetahuan mata kuliah Bahasa Inggris dari apa yang telah saya pelajari di kampus saya Universitas Gunadarma. Sebelumnya saya ingin menjelaskan apa itu yang dimaksud dengan Conditional sentences. Conditional sentences adalah (kalimat majemuk) yang dibentuk dari subordinate clause yang diawali dengan subordinate conjunction if berupa condition (syarat) dan main clause berupa result consequence (hasil).

Ada 4 tipe conditional sentence yang biasa digunakan yaitu:

·         Type 1   >    Memiliki kemungkinan untuk terwujud

·         Type 2   >    Hanya sedikit atau bahkan tidak memiliki kemungkinan untuk terwujud.

·         Type 3   >    tidak mungkin untuk terwujud.

·         Type 0   >    Selalu terwujud karena merupakan scientific fact / kebenaran ilmiah

Conditional sentence tipe 1

     Conditional sentence tipe 1 ini digunakan ketika result/consequence (hasil) dari condition (syarat) memiliki kemungkinan untuk terwujud dimasa depan karena condition nya realistic untuk dipenuhi.

Rumus:

if  +  condition , result / consequence

If +  Simple Present  , (will + bare infinitive)/imperative

Atau

result / consequence + if + condition

( will + bare infinitive ) / imperative + if + condition (Simple present)

(Simple present tense) =(S+V1+s/es+O)

“I, you, they, we” = do
“he, she, it”= does
Contoh:
(+) If I get my salary, I will buy a new car.
(-)  If the teacher do not come to teach, the student of the class will be sad.
(?) If you get your salary, will you buy a new car ?


Conditonal sentence tipe 2

       Condtional sentence tipe 2 ini digunakan ketika kondisinya menunjukan saat ini dan result / consequence juga harus terpenuhi saat itu juga. Tipe 2 ini hanya sedikit atau bahkan tidak memiliki kemungkinan untuk terwujud.

Rumus:

If + conditional , result / consequence

If + simple past , would/could/might + bare infinitive

Atau

Result / consequence + if + condition

Would/could/might + bare infinitive + if + simple past

(Simple past)=(S+V2+O)
“did”
Contoh:
(+) if I studied hard, I would pass the exam.
(-)  if I did not studied hard, I would fail the exam.
(?) if  you studied hard, would you pass the exam ?

Conditional sentence tipe 3

       Condional sentence tipe 3 ini digunakan ketika kondisinya menunjukan sudah lampau, tidak mungkin untuk terwujud. yang memang sudah pasti tidak terjadi karena merupakan aplikasi masa lampau.

Rumus:

If + conditional , result / consequence

If + past perfect , would/could/might have + past participle

Atau

Result / consequence + if + condition

Would/could/might have + past participle + if + past perfect

(Past perfect)=(S+HAS/HAVE+V3)
Contoh:
(+) If I had passed the exam last year, I would have studied in ITB.
fact: I didn’t pass the exam, so I didn’t study in ITB.
(-) If she hadn’t helped me, I would have been forget road to home..
fact: She helped me.
(?) If he had asked you forgiveness, would you have forgiven he?
fact: he didn’t ask you for forgivenesss.

Zero conditional

Pada conditional sentence tipe ini akan selalu terwujud karena sesuai dengan kenyataan atau telah terjadi ( terbukti secara ilmiah ).

Rumus:

If / when , result / consequence

If / when + simple present , simple present

Atau

Result / consequence + if / when + condition

Simple present + if / when + simple present

Contoh:


(+) Water will boil, if you heat it at 100 degrees Celsius.


(-) Tree don’t will grow well, if you don’t water it everyday.

(?) If we don't water the tree everyday , does it will grow well ?
